About
Evelyn Beliveau is a painter working in oil and acrylic, with sensuous mark-making that preserves traces of gesture. Their work is grounded in naturalistic rendering of light on materials such as glass, drapery, and flesh. Evelyn’s work has been featured in solo and group exhibitions in and around NYC, including group exhibition Postcards from the Edge 2025 at Berry Campbell Gallery. They have contributed to publications such as NOISE magazine and Queers for a Cause and participated in artist panel discussions for exhibitions at St.HROUDA and The Gallery at 180 Franklin Avenue. Evelyn has presented live painting events at jam sessions, led communal art-making events in public parks, and taught drawing and painting with arts education nonprofit ART YARD BKLYN. They have been awarded a residency at Wildacres Retreat (Little Switzerland, North Carolina), the Richard P. Martel Jr. Memorial Prize, the Robert and Blythe Edwards Fund for the Arts, and the Watterson Fellowship in Art to support their participation in the Brandeis in Siena program in Siena, Italy. Evelyn was raised in Vermont, graduated summa cum laude from Bowdoin College with a B.A. in Visual Arts, and currently lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.
